It is now evident that the Germans' enterprise at Liege was undertaken before the main army was ready, by a force the mobilisation of which was specially effected before the declaration of war. •
The problem of moving and feeding the masses of troops marching through the Rhine country is proving difficult, ••
German prisoners admit that the forces are suffering privations due to shortness of food. Reports are circulated that a pitched battle is to be fought in Belgium immediately, but these are doubted.
