WATERFRONT LABOUR.
NEW WELLINGTON SYSTEM.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— . ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. The new system of working the cargo on the waterfront, introduced by the Wellington Employers' Co-operative Wharf Labourers' Association, was inaugurated this morning, the shipping companies supplying their own lists of preference men. Judging by the manner in which applications are coming in for identification tokens, tho scheme appears to bo meeting with the satisfaction of a largo number of men, but owing to the unsettled state of affairs it will tako some time before every, thing is in working order, and it is impossible to say what the ultimate effect of the scheme will be.
