ATHLETICS.

AUCKLAND HARRIERS. The Auckland Harriers will bold their first club race- of the season to-day. Ibe runners will meet at the Manukau Hovel, Onehunga, and from thence will follow a traU round Mangere and back of about five miles. The race, which is expected to start shortly after 3 p.m., should be of some spectacular interest, as quite a number of leading cross-countrymen, who have been training assiduously are engaged in the event. The following handicaps have been declared for the race:— C Ornetein, scratch; F. J. Williams, 20s; E. Morrow, 30s; A. Bergin, 2m; J. J. Lawson, 2m; C, Morrow, 2m 15s; T. C. Fisher, 2m 455; R. Conradi, 4m 30s; G. G. Grant, 4m 455; T. A. Grotty. sm. CROSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP. The Otago Centre has decided to make application for the control of the New Zealand Cross-country Championship race this year, provided no other application is made.
