MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE.
CHRISTCHURCH CASE.
COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.

Christ-church. Wednesday. The ohargo of manslaughter against Alexander Thomson in connection with the death of his mother, who died in consequence of a ruptured varicose vein, was heart! to-day, and he was committed for trial.
A new feature -was introduced into the case by the evidence of a child (a brother of accused, and a. son of deceased). The charge arose from a blow received by deceased during a quarrel between her son Alexander and a iran named Baxter, with whom -he lived. The boy witness stated that Baxter told him after the death of hi? mother to say Alexander gave his mother a blow and knocked her down. He now asserted that this statement was trntrw.
Baxter stated, in evidence, that Thomson struck deceased four times, knocking her against a box and causing the rupture of a vein.
