OPENING OF THE INQUIRY.
NO WITNESSES APPEAR. —— ■ & Times-Sydney Sun Special Cable. . Capetown, January 27. The commission set up to inquire into the grievances of the Indians in South Africa, has, opened' its sittings. The ' Government of the Union of South Africa alone was represented by counsel. No Indian witness being forthcoming, Sir William Solomon, the president, stated that the position was most unsatisfactory. He had asked for specific • allegations, and none had been received.
