Sir,—What kind of farce is this fl fruit by post Y' It was supposed to bo-a way ■of obtaining fresh fruit at possible prices. These aro the postage conditions:3d a ib for th© first lib, and lid for each Encoding lb up to 111b. Allowing lib for the box leaves a possible 101b of fruit. On lli'l) tbo postage is '3d plus 10 times ljd, total Is 6d. Thus the postage on. 101b of fruit at, Is 6d (works out at 1 4-5 d per lb. Since the producer charges at least Id for fruit fit to post_ (and in most cases 2d a lb), our promised cheap fruit works out. at from 24-5 d to 3 4-5 d per lb, dearer than th© cost, at retail after _ several handlings. No wonder the conccsisioti is noli taken, advantage of. Disgusted.
