MOVEMENTS OF MINISTERS. MANY. COMING NORTH. [ill* TELVCRAI'K —SPECIAL correspondent.] Wellington, Friday, j The Minister for Justice (Hon. A. L. j Ilei dnian) will probably be in Welling- j ton for the next week or two. When he can get away he will make a tour of inspection of the prisons of the Dominion, commencing with Auckland. The Minister anticipates that the whole of the tour will occupy about ten days. The Postmaster-General (Hon. R. H. Rhodes) left this evening for Christchurch, where he will spend some days transacting. Departmental business and receiving deputations. ' Mr. Rhodes will return to Wellington early next week, and will probably then remain until he goes North to attend the reception to Mr. Massev at Auckland, on November 19, and to open the new General Post Office. The Minister for Marine {Hon. F. M. B. Fisher) expects to remain in Wellington until he goes to Auckland to attend the reception to be tendered the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister (Hon. W. F. Massev) will bo in Wellington for the next day or two at any rate. " I have a certain amount of work to get through," he stated this evening, "but hope to leave for Auckland on Sunday or Monday next." The exact duration of Mr. Massey's stay in the North is uncertain. Apart from his official engagements, the Prime Minister intends io spend a few days in his own district. The Minister for Finance (Hon. Jas. Allen) leaves for the South by the ferry steamer to-morrow, on a short visit to his home in his own electorate. Ha. will probably open a new technical school building at Milton, and will also pay a visit to the Otekaike Home for Mental Defectives. Before his departure for England on December 14, Mr. Allen will make another visit to his electorate, and he is to be banqueted by his constituents at Lawrence, on December 6. The Prime Minister and the Hon. R. H. Rhodes will be present at the functions. The Minister for Public Works (Hon. W. Fraser) will remain in Wellington until the end of the week, when he will go South to attend the Duns tan Rush jubilee celebration the following week. The Minister for Railways (Hon. W. H. Herries) will probably be in Wellington for the next fortnight. The Laltonr Party. The Labour members in Parliament have not attended any meeting or caucus of the Opposition party since the present Government took office. One of their number states that the party will maintain this attitude of aloofness, and will strictly preserve its independence. The Work of the Whips,' Before dispersing to their homes. Government members made a presentation to their party Whips, Messrs. D. H. Guthrie (Orna) and W. Nosworthy (Ashburtoh). High praise was given to both Whips for the diligence and efficiency with which they had carried out their exacting and onerous duties. It was stated that the fine record of the session, during the whole course of which the Government had not incurred defeat in' a single division, was in large measure due to the capable work of the Whips.
