SIR STARR JAMESON.
RESIGNATION OF HIS SEAT. By Telegraph.—Press Association.— . Capetown, October 11. Sir Stake Jameson has resigned the Grahamstown seat in the South African Union Parliament. Sir Abe Bailey,': (the well-known mineowner) will contest the seat as an Independent supporter of the Prime Minister (Mr. Botha). Sir Leander Starr Jameson, ■ who is better known as "Dr. Jameson" (the author of the famous "raid" of 1895), resigned the Leadership of the Opposition party, in South Africa in April last, and went; to England. • He was succeeded in the leadership of the party by Sir Thomas Smartt.
