New York, May 2. The Republicans of Massachusetts have selected President Taft as the Presidential candidate on the State preferential ballot, but at the same time they have selected an entire State delegation to the National Convention largely favouring Mr. Roosevelt.

Such a situation is unparalleled in the history of the United States. Mr. Roosevelt, on being asked for his opinion, said that he favoured the delegation voting in Mr. Taft's favour as an equitable solution of the difficulty.
