THAMES WHARF SCHEME.
THROWN OUT BY THE LORDS. By Telegraph.—Press Association.Copyright. London, May 2. The House of Lords has thrown out the proposed scheme for the construction of docks and a railway at Canvey Island, in the Thames.
The Bill, which was supported by those interested in the Australian and New Zealand shipping trade, proposed to build a deep water wharf at Canvey Island (below Tilbury), the wharf to be connected by rail with the mainland at Benfleet. The estimated cost of the scheme was £500,000. ,
