' THAMES MATCHES. [BY telegraph.—ow*r correspondent.] THAMES, Sunday. The United Club (Auckland! paid their annual visit to Thames on Saturday, and met the local team in a very strenuous game, which resulted in a draw, with three | goals each. The visitors had all the best of the first spell, with two goals in hand, Barry and or ton being the scorers. In the second spell Thames became aggressive, and scored three goals in quick succession. 1 Buchanan scored two, and Griffin one. Just before time Gilfillan, of United, playing on the left wing, equalised the game by scoring a brilliant goal. The visitors were entertained at a social and dance in the evening, when advantage was taken to present the various trophies won by the local club during the seaso'i. The Cricketers' Club win the Crease cup. High School the Lapraik shield for the season, and the Huia ladies' club win the ladies' competition.
