RECEPTION AT ■ PALMERSTON.

[BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Palmerston North, Friday. The members of the No. 1 Battery, Tasmanian Artillery, , who are attending the naval and military tournament to-mor-row, were accorded a civic reception to day. In addition to the Mayor E.nd councillors, there were present representatives of the New Zealand Territorial forces and competing corps at the tournament. The spirit and enterprise shown by the battery in attending the tournament were generally eulogised.

TEAM FROM THE WAIKATO.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Friday. A team of No. 1 Waibato Mounted Rifles left Hamilton for Palmerston last night to compete in tho military tournament there, to bo held on Saturday and Monday next. The team consists of 11 men, who will compete in the tent-pegging, Lloyd-Lindsay, signalling, topographical sketching, and wrestling events. Thft team is in charge of Sergeant Ranstead, and consists of the following: —Sergeants Ranctead and Steele, Corporals Foster and Ranstead, Privates Jackson (2), Pemberton, Riddel, Foster, Rutter, and Swarbrick.
