FLOOD DAMAGE.
WAIHI COMPANY TO APPEAL. [B? TKLEGHAHI.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Waihi, Monday. The Waihi Gold Mining Company have lodged a notice of appeal from the decision of tho Goldfields Warden (Mr. F. J. Burgess), who recently awarded Mrs. McKay £105 in the action for damages against the company , arising out of the March floods. When the case was before the Court it was contended for the claimant that the embankment erected by the defendant company had backed up the floodwaters which were the cause of the damage, and that the claimant eought to recover upwards of £300. Several other residents have also made claims against the company.
