THE KNYVETT CASE.
ACTION FOR DAMAGES.
It is understood that a civil action will shortly be commenced by Captain Knyvctt, claiming damages for wrongful dismissal from the New Zealand . defence forces. Messrs. Pullen and Dawson, , Captain Knyvett's solicitors, have already retained Mr. F. Earl, the well-known Auckland barrister, in connection with the matter, and it is probable that two prominent Southern lawyers will also be' retained to fight the case. It is stated that- writs will probably no'issued against the convening officer, tho members of the Court of Inquiry, the Minister for Defence, and the members of the Cabinet jointly and severally. , The Knyveit, Defence Committee is at present arranging to hold meetings of protest in the suburbs. It was intended to hold the first meeting in St.. George's Hall, Newton, towards , the end of the present week, but the committee has been unable to secure the hall in question, and is now endeavouring to secure another hall in the same district.
