ENTERTAINMENTS.

A BACHELOR'S HONEYMOON.

" A Bachelor's Honeymoon," the farcical comedy, as produced by Mr. Hugh" J. Ward's company at His Majesty's Theatre, continues to meet with popular approval. On Saturday night, when the piece was- staged in Auckland for the sixth lime, there was again a full house, and the. audience was kept in a constant state of amusement. The comedy is one which compels laughter, and as produced, by Mr. Ward and his talented company it proves even more mirth-provoking. It. will be produced again this evening and to-morrow evening. On Wednesday evening "Mr. Hopkinson" will be revived. "Hoppy" is a grocer, of a vulgarity which is appalling, but of recently-acquired wealth. Upon him falls the choice of the Duke and Duchess of Brace borough when they are trying to find a rich and moral husband for Lady Thyra, the daughter of the Earl of Addleton, who has been conveniently obliging over a mortgage. The comedy of the play then lies in the absurd behaviour of "Hoppy," when ad- • mitted into society; the fact that Lady Thyra eventually marries Lord Gawthoroe,. and that "Hoppy" weds an old flame, Eliza Dib,' really does not matter much. It is the caricature of a grocer out of his element that reajly amuses, and that would be far from amusing were it not' for the comic scenes and dialogue with which Mr. Carton has surrounded the central idea of the play. Miss Grace Palotta appears as the Duchess of Braceborough, Miss Rose Musgrove as ElizaDib, and Mr. Hugh Ward as Mr. Hopkinson. Mr. Hopkinson" will be staged two nights, and "The Man From Mexico" on Friday and Saturday.

OPERA HOUSE. : " At the Opera House on Saturday evening there was a crowded audience to view Fuller's new programme of pictures. The films were not only amusing, but also interesting and .instructive. An amusing picture was "Sweet and Twenty," in which an amorous young man after being rejected by his lady love vows he will drown himself. He starts away to the nearest river, but when he feels the temperature of the water waits in a threatening attitude until he is rescued by the maid, and love's young dream is con-' tinued. "The Gambling Fever" was also another good film, depicting a wife's rescue of her husband, who is about to take his life after running through the whole of his fortune. Other interesting pictures shown were "Chemical Experiments," "The Land of Gitanos," " The Renunciation," and the Cobbler and Caliph" from the "Arabian Nights." In the afternoon a matinee was held. The programme will be repeated this' evening.. : ..-•',' ■ .;.'•', - ROYAL ALBERT HALL. The Pathe Pictures i attracted the usual; full house on Saturday night, and the whole programme was ; highly > appreciated. "Shanghaied" is' a remarkably fine picture • drama, full of exciting adventures, and undoubtedly the first favourite on the pro- ; gramme, which, however," contains many attractive features, of which the artistic filing " Historic Ruins," is the best. The same' programme will be repeated to-night.

.', ~ TIVOLI. THEATRE. . \ The Tivoli Theatre was crowded on Satur- •: day night by an appreciative audience, an excellent series of historic, pathetic scenic and comic pictures being shown. The programme will be repeated this evening. ;
