ECCLESIASTICAL.
ST. PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL. • The Redemptorist Fathers, the Very Rev. Father Clune and Fathers Hunt and Creagh, * have during the last fortnight been conduct- , ing a mission at St. Patrick's Cathedral. . Eight o'clock mass yesterday: morning was ;* attended by the men , of the parish, together, with the. officers and members of the Hibernian Society, Marist /Brothers', Old' Boys' Association, St. Vincent de Paul So- t ciety, and 'a detachment of men from! H.M.S. Prometheus. His Lordship the. Bishop attended in the sanctuary, Father - Holbrookf i said mass, -and Father Creagh J gave the instructions. Over 500 :men received holy communion. After mass ; the ; party assembled in St. } t Patrick's convent {l school, to partake of breakfast, over which Dr. Lonihan presided. J The , Bishop ex-: / pressed his pleasure. and appreciation at seeing such a large body of men at communion. He thanked the Redemptorists for their successful labours. - Father Clune briefly adressed the assemblage; He said he began his missionary work in Auckland, and ; for this city he always had a deep affection. Short speeches were delivered '. by-." Fathers Creagh and Holbrook, and the Rev. *> Brother George (Marist Brothers), Mr. P: J. Nerheny, D.P. H.A.C.B. Society, Mr. C. Little, president St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Mr. Walter Darby.
v missions TO SEAMEN. :;;,, The Missions to Seamen Institute in Shortland-street was well patronised last : evening by those who go down to the sea ' in ships.
