AUCKLAND HOSPITAL BOARD

The last mooting of th© present Hospital Board was held yesterday afternoon. Thoso present were: Tho chairman (Mr. G. Knight), Messrs. M. J. Coyle, C. D. Grey, J. Jenkin, P. M. Mackay, F. Dye, J. G. Rutherford. A letter was received from Dr. Aubin, returning cheques amounting to £3 12s for X-ray photographs. Tho cheques were returned as a donation to the hospital. It was resolved - that" Dr. AußirL' bo thanked for his donation. Tho report of the. Charitable Aid Committee showed that 11 new cases and 18 old cases had been dealt with during the past fortnight. Tho report was adopted. The Hospital Committee reported that tho honorary staff had submitted a list of instruments required for use in connection with tho treatment of the car, nose, and throat. Some of the instruments asked for were not procurable in New Zealand, and" the Surgical Supply Company quoted £8 8s to supply a portion of the order. The committee recommended that those quoted for be procured, tho price of tho balance to bo ascertained and submitted to the Board. Tho chairman said tho medical staff had obtained an estimate for the balance referred to, and estimated it at about £30, and he moved that the whole of the instruments bo procured. This was carried. The committee also reported that Dr. McDowell had been granted 10 days' leave of absence from tho 10th inst. Tho Hospital Committee recommended that a telephone bo installed in the secretary's house. The various clauses in the Hospital Committee's report were adopted. The Costley Home Committee reported that , they had . appointed Mr. D. MeLeod to the position of head attendant, vice Mr. E. Gibson resigned, and that Mrs. Isabel_ Hattaway had been- appointed matron. This report was adopted.
