A LEAP FOR LIFE.
JUMP FROM A "WINDOW. [BY TELEGRAPH. PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Friday. A ten-boomed house in Lorne-street, owned by Mr. E. G. Jellicoe, and occupied by several tenants, was damaged by fire early this morning. The insurances are £1100 on the building in the Royal, and on furniture £255 in the Ocean, and £200 in the United. ' One occupant, Mrs. Margaret Mihoy, severely injured her leg through jumping from an upstairs window when escape by the stairs had been cut off. A member of the fire brigade was also injured by coming into contact with a broken electric wire, but his injuries are not serious.
