BOXING.
TOMMY BURNS' VISIT.
Tho Northern Boxing Association, at a meeting hold last, evening, decided to officially welcome Tommy Burns to tho Dominion on his arrival to-morrow. The function will bo formal, as he leaves tomorrow evening, via the Main Trunk express, for Wellington. •
The Prince and Princess of Wales and Prince and Princess Alexander of Teck dined with the officers' mess of tho 2nd Life Guards at Combermore. Barracks (Eng.) recently, and subsequently, among other athletic events, witnessed several exciting boxing contests. My source of information, London Daily Mail, says:—"The keen attention with which the Prince of Wales watched tho boxing brought back memories of his own prowess with the gloves in the days when, as a naval cadet, he was a noted light-weight boxer. He sat forward in his seat watching appreciatively every blow and feint, and applauded the hard-fought round most enthusiastically."
