AUSTRALASIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. DEPARTURE OF NEW ZEALAND • , TEAM. >:;;■■ * [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT, ] Wellington, Friday. The New Zealand team of athletes which is to compete at tho Australasian championships at Brisbane this month left for Australia this evening by the Moeraki. At noon the members of the team were entertained at lunch at the' Windsor Hotel. Dr. A. K. Newman, president of the New Zealand Council, presided. Dr. Newman said ho was very pleased to be present to wish tho team success. There was .no doubt the team would have been stronger with Orbell, Murray, Haskins, and Wallace. His own belief, however, was that the team would do extremely well, and ho hoped it would bring back the banner. Mr. Bridge, manager of tho team, said ho was pleased that Mr. Pollock was to accompany them. They were going over to Brisbane to win the banner, and if they could not win the banner to win as many championships as possible-
