FIRE ON A STEAMER.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. Two hours after the Union Company's steamer Pateena left Picton for Wellington last night a fire broke out in the after hold of the vessel, but the damage, which was confined to luggage and come hope, from Nelson, was not extensive. The ship came at full speed to Wellington, and, on arrival here at 2.30 a.m., the Harbour Board's chemical engine was taken on board, and the fire brigade was sent for. In a short time all danger was removed.
