DESIRABLE IMMIGRANTS.
THE lONIC'S PASSENGERS. [BY 'J'ELEGIUFH.— ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Wednesday. There are no fewer than 532 third-class passengers on the ; s.s. lonic, due here from London next Wednesday. Of these, 307 (of whom 104 are children) are coming out under the assisted system, and the number includes 65 farmers, 15 domestic servants, and 14 farm labourers. The assisted passengers are bringing capital totalling some thousands of pounds. One man has £800, another is bringing £755, two more have £600 each, and many have sums ranging from £260 to £100.
