NO-LICENSE CONVENTION.

YESTERDAY'S PROCEEDINGS.

Tiik annual convention of the Auckland Provincial No-license Workers was continued in the Pitt-street Methodist schoolroom at 9.30 a.m. yesterday, the Rev. A. Doull in the chair.

Mr. H. E. Pacoy presented the annual report, which was adopted. The report included references to the circulation of the. Home Journal (35,000 copies being posted monthly to residents in Auckland province), the difficulties experienced in obtaining perfect electoral rolls, the prominence given to temperance teaching in the School Journal, the conditions obtaining in the King Country, the police report, regarding drinking among women in Auckland, the good results that have followed the carrying of no-licenso in the "dry" electorates, the temperance reform movement in New South Wales and Great Britain, the party's legislative demands, finance, organisation, and the visit of .the American fleet.

A cordial welcome to the convention was accorded by the chairman to the Revs. J. Dawson (chairman of the Now Zealand Alliance Executive, Wellington) and J. Clark (Palmerston South). A paper, written by Mr. J. S. Baxter, (Southland), was read by the Rev. J. M. Simpson, 8.A., Knox Church, entitled "How We Wen Invercargiii." It was resolved that a. copy of the paper be sent to every electoral league in the province. The election of officers resulted as follows : —President, Mr. Wesley Spragg ; vice-presidents, Tito Revs. Canon Haselden, A. Doull, M.A., and Mr. Robert French; secretary. Mr. H. K. Pacev; treasurer, Mr. Tyler; auditors, Messrs. Parker and J. L. Scott; delegates to the New Zealand Alliance, the Roys. W. J. Williams, J. J. North, and Mr. R. G. Denton. A vote of thanks was accorded to the outgoing officers. •-. A: paper by the Rev. K. Walker, entitled "Dominion Option,*' was read by the Rev. L. M. Isilt, _ * . The afternoon .session, which was •presided over by Mr. Robert French, was largely occupied with.the consideration of a number of resolutions concerning the forward policy of the no-license party. At » meeting to-night of no-license delegates, representing Wellington and suburbs, ;■, resolution was passed referring to the benefits of no-lircnse in the districts where it is in force, and pledging the meeting to endeavour to secure the same benefits tor Wellington and district at the next local option poll.
