I SOUTHERN SETTLERS' REQUESTS. j [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] ! I Dukkdin, Monday. At Balciutha today a deputation waited on the Hon. R. McNab with a request that the Government should acq .--'re the Clifton and Otanomomo Estates for closer settlement. Tito former estate comprises 15,675 acres, and the latter 5406 acres. The deputation stated that Clifton would settle from 70 to 80 farmers, while Ot&nomomo would provide land for about 56. j The Minister admitted that there was a i very keen demand for land in the South. i The chairman of the Land Purchase Board ! was »■*■> present in the South Island looking j at a number of properties under offer, ami ! he would communicate with him at once j and -yet him to view the Clifton estate. The Minister subsequently proceeded to *Tuapeka mouth.
