LAND BOARD AND MINISTER.
UNWELCOME INSTRUCTIONS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Gisjiorne, Monday. At a meeting of the Land Board to-day, Mr. Eustace Lino submitted the following notice of motion—" That, under clauses 43, 49, 201, and 5:09, of the Land Act, 1885, this Board is appointed to decide whether or not certain! small grazing runs leased under that Ac ;, are suitable for clow settlement, and hat it cannot accept the instructions forwarded by the Under-Secre-tary lor Lands as Cabinet instructions, seeing that sue) instructions tend to demoralise tenants, belittle the Board, and dummy the lard." The Cabinet instructions referred to bear oat an intimation given by the Minister for Lands, when on a visit- to this district recently, that on the expiration of leases, small grazing runs shortly falling in would, if suitable, be subdivided for closer settlement.
