STAR OF JAPAN.

A HOPELESS POSITION.

It transpires that a rock pierced the bottom of the Tyser liner Star of Japan, while off Cape Verde, French West Africa. The captain considers that the position is hopeless.
A Press Association message from Napier, on Saturday, stated that the Star of Japan was a total wreck. Particulars of the cargo are not yet to hand.
