The New Zealand team of bowlers played a match to-day against representatives of the South Melbourne Club. The weather was good and the attendance excellent, while the green was in good order. Previous to the starting of the contest the New Zealanders were welcomed by the. president, Mr. .Skinner, and cheered. At the adjournment at four o'clock Mr. Skinner cordially welcomed them on behalf of tiro local cricket, football, and howling clubs, and Mr. Stranguard, the suburban Mayor, on behalf of the citizens. The felicitious references were reciprocated by Messrs. Waddel and Allnutt. The latter referred to the charming and picturesque green. Few New Zealanders had played a scratch match under electric light. The New Zealanders leave for Adelaide to-morrow. The results of the games are as follows: — Martin, Gee, Coltman. Goldstein (skip), 25, v. opponents, 27. The New Zealanders scored at 11 ends, gaining three 3's. Brood, Bastings, Bentley, Scoullar (skip), 55 to 22. The visitors' opponents got in one six, thenceforth the highest was two. The New Zealanders; scored consistently, and secured several fives and fours. Wallace, McGibbon, Main, Findlay (skip), 26 to 17. caves, Gibson, Smith, Waddel (skip), 32 to 22. Stubberheld, Manning, Chegwin, Bishop (skip), 16 to 32. Thompson, Bunting, .Johnston, Allnutfc (skip), 32 to 19. The local skipper, Slatter, is an ex-champion. The totals were: New Zealand, 162 locals, 139. The game ended under electric light, the novelty appealing to the New Zealanders.
