BATHING FATALITIES.
CLERK DROWNED AT HEREKINO.
[by TELEGRAPH.—OWN" correspondent.] Dargavci.le, Tuesday. Mb. A. Ballentine was drowned at Herekino early this morning while bathing. He arrived there last Friday from Auckland, coming from Scotland three weeks ago. Deceased was clerk at the Mitchelson Timber Co.'s mill. He went for a swim before breakfast, and being away for a, considerable time, Mr. Edwards went to look for him. He found his clothes on the bank, and a boat was sent out to continue the search. The body was seen at the bottom of the river through the clear water, and was recovered. ° . CASE AT ONGARUE. [by TELEGRAPH.— own TON DENT-] Tatjmartjntji, Tuesday. Crichton Riddell, aged eight years, son of Mr. A. M. Riddell, a settler living at, Ongarue, was drowned while bathing in the Ongarue River yesterday about 12.30 p.m. The body was not found until about 11 o'clock this morning. The district Coroner (Mr. A. S'. Laird)" has left for Ongarue to hold an inquest. A MILLHAND'S DEATH. [liX TELEGRAPH. —rRESS ASSOCIATION.] Tathape, Tuesday. John Harvey, aged 24, a millhand, employed, at Mangaonoho, was drowned while bathing in the Rangitikei River.
