VANCOUVER MAIL SERVICE.
CANADA AND NEW ZEALAND.
[BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
Wellington, Tuesday. Sir JOSEPH Ward has sent the followingcablegram to Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister of Canada, with regard to the cabled statement that he had communicated with New Zealand regarding the Vancouver contract, but had received no reply :— "A cable from Canada is published in the press here that you stated you had communicated with the New Zealand Government upon the renewal of the Canad-ian-Australian mail service, and that so far you had not received any reply. I assume that there is some mistake, as no communication has been received from you, and New Zealand is not a party to the contract."
