IMMIGRATION POLICY.
TAXATION TO BE REMITTED
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Copyright. Sydney, July 3. lx the Legislative Assembly, Mr. McGowan dealt critically "with the!' immigration policy of the Government. He said he knew cases in which men lost their places because immigrants offered to work for less wages.
Mr. Carruthers, in reviewing the financial position of the State, sai' 1 they had started the financial year with a cash credit, including Public Works and Closer Settlement Funds, of £1,962,000. This .could be. operated without touching the Trust Fund, which, together with the surplus, amounted to five millions., He considered the position justified him in remitting taxation.
The Legislative Council adopted the Address-in-Reply.
