THE HARRIS CUP. The three Native companies fired for the Harris j cup at Penrose on Saturday afternoon, the.ranges i being 200 yds and 500 yds, with seven shots and a sighter (not to ; count)": at ; each . range. Each company was' represented by a team of 10 men. The shooting resulted in a win or No. 1 Native Rifles, who put up a grand total;of 539 points, as against 529 points compiled' by No. 2 Native Rifles.. ' , * The members of the Akarana Rifle Club firedthe final matches of the season on their range at Penrose on Saturday afternoon. ; There was a good attendance of members. A strong tricky westerly breeze - was blowing all the afternoon,' necessitating 18 degrees ,• of windage. This made good . shooting extremely difficult, and therefore the score of 81 compiled : by Mr. A. C. Watson, the winner of the A class trophy,: which was presented by Mr. J. H. Langley, must be considered a highly creditable performance. The win was a very popular one. In the B class Mr. J. Mcintosh won the tronhy, which was also donated to the j club by : ; ;Mr.,;,Langley.;; The highest individual | range scores were the 42 of Mr. J. Oarlsen and i the 38 each' of Messrs. A. C.
