SMOKING IN TRAMCARS.

Sir,—lt appears that there arc certain smokers-who think it a bravo thing to take a seat in a tramcar with the label " smoking strictly prohibited just, 3ft from their-eyes, and a "lady's face at a less distance, and there indulge in anything but fragrant '-weed"— and in the meanwhile watch tho_ face of the conductor, who obviously takes their tickets, but can apparently neither see the cigar nor smell it. Only this morning I saw an instance of this; also tho self-satisfied smile of the cad who thus defied the tram regulations and annoyed a lady. I would fain believe'there are but few smokers who thus prefer their, own.* selfish indulgence, still fewer conductors who will allow it, for, as a rule, one sees the votaries of tobacco and those who are not such completely separated in the trams. - Regtjlab Traveller.
