ROAD BOARDS.

iIANGERE ROAD BOARD. Thb usual monthly meeting or; the Mange re Road Board was ?beM"i.»t":tho? Public Hall, Mangere, on Monday, when there were present:"Messrs. G..Turk, E". J. Eltett, J. Glasgow, W. Knight, jun.,- and A. 'Henwood. This was tho firs*. meeting of tho newly-elected Board. Mr. Turk .was elected chairman. The surface mad© an application for ■■■ an increase' of wages, and the request was deferred for further consideration. The clerk announced a credit balance of £395 3s lid. Accounts amounting to £60 were passed for payment. Mr. Turk was allotted the district section supervised by the late chairman; Mr. 'Glasgow ( the bridge section; and Mr. Knight that attend-| ed to by Mr. Baker, while Messrs. : Elicit and Heawood control 'their former sections. i Lots were drawn to decide which two mem- ! bers will retire next year, and they fell to i Messrs. Turk (chairman) and Glasgow. The-J Board will meet T the Onehiinga Borough Council on May ,17* to consider whit steps shall taken in regard to the Mangero bridge. ■•;■•■ ./ ' -. ? /; MOUNT ROSKILL? ' ! The ordinary month'}' meeting of tho Mount Roskill Road Board waa held at the Board office, Three Kings, last evening. There were present: Messrs. Chas. Bas-ley, .C. AVorrali, Geo.. Winstone, E. J. Herd, J.; Ambury, J. Ha-lett, T. E. Hayr, and T. F. Booth (clerk). Mr." C.hos. Bagloy was unanimously re-elected chairman. "Mr, !T. F. Booth, was re-elected secretary, and Mr. T. E. Hayr, treasurer, of the Board. -■-■,■.:•■■' " Finance: The clerk announced the following credits in tho several funds.-—Gene-ral account, £277 S3 7d: water revenue account, £52 6s; gas and lighting account, £33 19s 3d. Accounts were -passed for payment, totalling £184 lis 4d. 7 Committees: The whole Board was appointed tc act as i a Finance and also as a. Works Committee. . The chairmen, treasurer, «and secretary were appointed to sign oheques. , ■ Tenders: The tender of Mr. A. Higgins for carting supplies was accepted. The Rates: Tho chairman gavo notice to move, at next meeting:" (1.) ' Charitable Aid: Tlio chairman announced that tho amount demanded by the Hospital 1 and Charitable Aid; Board , this', year> wasi £164 8s 3d. This he considered excessive, ©Specially as with the increase of old ago pensions it was expected that the' "demand would have decreased. : '■' .■'.- . Defective Meters: It was was reported that several of the large water meters were out of order. Tho chairman remarked that at least one- of these motors had been faulty on four occasions, that at Greenwood's - Corner, and it registered against tho Board.■-. The matter 'was left in the hands of .tho chairman to confer with tho Mauukau Water . Supply Trust. .'Gas; Lamps: It was decided to view cer-J tain portions of the district, in order to decide upon suitable places for the erection. of» now gas lamps.; Further, it was agreed to communicate-.with the Onehunga Borough Council and. One-tree;; Hill Road Boards, asking, them to "co-operate with the object of placing a. powerful lamp opposite the' Royal Oak,: where six: roads meet. The first meeting of "the f newly -elected Archhill Road Board was held on Monday oven in there being present:' Messrs/' Jenkin, -Rowo,, Gentles, ,; Watte, and? In regard to the Great North; Road deviation, ? a letter \ was received from the Grey Lynn Borough Council, stating;'that' a contract had been lot" to W. Lovett, 1 for £1937. It was decided 'to consider the matter further; at the next meeting. ; Ac-* |counts totalling £69 0s 9d were passed fot? payment. - PUKBKOHE; EAST ROAD BOARD. :'■'■■ The annual meeting' of tho Pukekohe East Road "Board" was held in the Buckland' Hall:' on May 4. Mr. E. -Allan'' presided, and the report and balance-sheet wore adopted. The' Board is: paying interest on a loan of £4362 133 9d.-: it was resolved' that the incoming? Board be recommended to? borrow another £3000. A ; plan of tho proposed deviation of. roads through. the lato Mr. W.
