The annual meeting of. the parishioners of St. John the Baptist's Church, Northcote, was held in the Parish Hall last night. The vicar, the Rev. A. F. Smith, presided. The annual report referred to the erection of the now parish hall, at : a cost of £360, the bazaar recently held in, aid of this building resulting in a profit of £91. There had been good progress made in all branches of/the Church- work. ' The attendance at the services had largely increased, and the Sundayschool and other auxiliaries . were ■■■ in a flourishing condition. , The balance-sheet was adopted, and the following officers wore elected:—Minister's warden, Mr. H. Hunt; people's warden, ; Mr. Whatford: members of the vestry, Messrs. A. Taylor, H. Cadness, W. Thompson, A. Tyer, C. Waye, F. T. Jeffery, A. Harrison, V. Smith, and W. 'J. Wcpkes; auditor, Mr. E. M. C. Harrison. The meeting passed a'resolution confirming the desirableness of removing tho church at. Chelsea to a site at Birkdale, owing to the - lapsing of services, and r the matter was referred to the committee, to make the necessary arrangements. Already a considerable : sum had been promised by the residents at Birkdale to .defray tho expenses. The resident surgeon's report showed the .number of patients in the ward at last .return as 29 males and seven females; admitted during the past month, 19 males and 12 females; discharged, 25 males and six females remaining at present, 23 males and 12 females; number of out-patients, 23 males and four females. The House Committee's report referred to the proposed additions to the nurses' quarters and the new sanitary scheme of drainage and septic tank.: •The matter of providing suitable accommodation for patients suffering from 'infectious diseases, which had been ; reported on by -Dr. Walshe, was referred to the incoming •House Committee.
