PROTEST FROM LABOUR AGAINST!
LABOUR APPOINTMENTS.
By Telegraph.— Association.—
(Received January 29. 1.7 p.m.)
Sydney, January 28. TrtK leading officials of the. Seamen's Union have protested against the composition of the Australian delegation to the Imperial Navigation Conference, Not one of the delegates, it was pointed out, has tho least idea of the present conditions of seamen or the changes needed, except what they may have read. One. of the officials said that Mr. Watson simply knew nothing of the sea, and Mr. Hughes, who is a lawyer, did not know much more. Although both were Labour leaders, it would have been much better to have men against Labour, if fair and honest, and knowing something about the subject.
The Labour Political Conference passed a resolution to-night protesting against th«' appointments.
