RUMOURED RESIGNATION OF
THE GOVERNOR.

London, January 27. It is rumoured in London that the Governor of Jamaica (Sir A Swcttenham) has resigned his post. Inquiries have been made at the Colonial Office on the subject, but the officials there will neither confirm nor deny the report.
London, January 25.
The Kingston correspondent of the London Daily Telegraph accuses Sir Alexander Swcttenham of wasting his energy in cavorting round the city damning officials who were doing their best. He gives other illustrations of Sir Alexander Swettenham's unsuitability for the Governorship.
