ANNIVERSARY REGATTA.
MAKING THE ARRANGEMENTS. The committee* of the Anniversary Regatta met. in the rooms of the Australian Institute of Marino Engineers yesterday afternoon, Mr. T. T. Masefield presiding. It was decided to place a race for naval cutters on the programme, as 11.M.5. Prometheus will then bo in port. In response to a request from the committee the New Zealand Power Boat Association wrote that it would bo desirable for two races to be placed 011 the programme for motor boats, one for boats capable of doing eight knots per Hour, and one for boats capable of doing over eight knots per hour. It was decided to accent the recommendation of the association, cn the understanding that the course should he properly measured, to prevent any disputes. The tender of the Garrison Band to play on the flagship was accepted. The local representative of the N.Z. Amateur. Rowing As-, sociation wrote drawing attention to sb<.> 'tot that the Regatta Committee was advertising a whaleboat race, to be rowed under the rules of the association. The secretary stated that the association did not permit members of affiliated clubs to compete in whaleboat races. r t was decided, after consideration, That pending further arrangements the race be abandoned." It was decided to finally fix the programme and allocate tho prize-money. for tho regatta, and also 10 appoint the officials to carry out the details at the next meeting. The Chair-nan impressed upon the members the advisability of a vigorous canvass of the city for subscriptions towards the funds, and trusted that the citizens would give as liberally as in previous years. . ■ ' .•
