QUESTION OF TITLES. fBT TKLEGBAPH.—3I'ECIAI CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington-, Monday. When the Maori Land Claims Adjustment and Laws Amendment Bill was being considered to-night, Mr. Kaihau moved and carried a new clause in reference to th» To Akau Block. During the session a petition was presented to Parliament asking that the question of the titles of the block should be reopened. The Native Affairs Committee, to whom the petition was referred, recommended the matter to the consideration of the Government. When the Bill was in committee Mr. Kaihau moved to add a new clause to the effect that the Appellate Court be directed to review the report of the Royal Commission in connection with the dispute affecting the titles to the block and the subsequent decision of the Chief Judge thereon, and also to investigate and determine the claims according to Maori custom to the said land, and the interests of the hapus and each individual in the said land, and also to vary and amend the boundary line between Te Akau No. 2 and To Akau No. 2 B, also the boundary between )Fe Akau No. 3 B and To Akau No. 3 A, and to make such orders as it considers necessary to effect a final and equitable settlement of the matters in dispute. The addition of the clause to the Bill was carried by 27 to 2*.
