The weekly official review of the progress of the New Zealand International Exhibition states that at a meeting of the Maori Committee a communication was received from the Hon. J. Carroll, advising the committee that immediately after the elections ho would bo very glad to attend a meeting of the committee for the purpose of assisting to organise a complete scheme for the representation, of Maori exhibits. Plans and specifications for the art gallery are practically completed, and tenders wil' bo invited during the. course of the next few days, fho building is to be of brick, and will be made thoroughly fireproof. The Buildings Committee held a meeting to open tenders for the main building and annexes. Nine tenders were received, and the lowest being satisfactory the Building Committee recommended its acceptance. It was decided not to disclose the amounts of the tenders until such time as the recommended tender has been formally accepted by the Government. Applications for space are still coming in freely. The total applied for to date amounts to 9494 square feet. Palhersto.v North, Monday. The Premier, replying to a telegram sent to him by Mr. P. 0. Freeth, a member of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce, says it is the intention of the Government to have competitive provincial displays at the New Zealand Exhibition. He hopes that each provincial district will exert itself to do justice to the scheme. A similar procedure was followed in connection, with the St. Louis Exhibition, arid proved one of the most attractive features.
