MEETING OF CHEMISTS.
A meeting of the' city and suburban chemists of Auckland was held at the Chamber of Commerce yesterday, Mr. Mackay presiding. The object of the meeting was to discuss the Shops and Offices Act Amend-
ment Bill, and to appoint a representative to give evidence before , the Labour Bills Committee at Wellington. After a short
discussion, on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. Muir, Mr. Denby was elected as representative. It was further resolved to send a 'second representative to act with Mr. Denby, and Mr. Mackay was selected. Both representatives leave for Wellington on Wednesday next. Mr. Perry Taylor, president of the Auckland Grocers' Assistants' Union, has been appointed to give expression to the desires of the shop assistants before the committee on the Shops and Offices Bill in Wellington. ' A: meeting of the. retail confectioners of Auckland will be held in, the ante-room of St. James' Hall, Wellington-street, at eight o'clock this evening. The business to he considered will be the Shops and Offices Act, 1904, and to appoint delegates to give evidence before the Labour Bills Committee at Wellington. . •■ ■
