John Small, a carter, residing at'Ludbrooks, whilst driving two horses in a cart over the railway crossing pear Prebbleton, was run into by the quarter to five p.m. train from Cliristclmrch to Southbridge. Small Was brought to town in a semi-con-scious " condition. On being examined at the hospital it was found that several ribs were broken, and it is feared he is hurt internally. One of the horses was so badly manned that it had to 'shot. The dray was "carried by the engine about a chain along the line, and then thrown off.
