MAORI HAKA TROUPE FOR ENGLAND.
TO APPEAR BEFORE THE KING

GiSBOttXK. Saturday. A party of 10 Maoris leave, here on Monday morning en route for Wellington, where they join the Turakina for London. It is understood that the troupe has been get. together at the request of Mrs. Howie, and that they are to give an exhibition of hakas in England. While tip the coast recently the Hon. .las. Carroll demited Hone Pa era ta, a wellknown Tokomaru chief, to select, the troupe. Those selected are fine specimens of the Maori race. It is stated that, the Government will defray the expenses, and give them a send-off at Wellington next. week. The Maoris are expected to be absent'-from the colony about 12 months. It is stated that Mrs. Howie' is to shortly sing before the King, and that the haka. troupe will give an exhibition on that occasion.
