IRISH HOME RULE.

SPEECH BY MR. REDMOND.'

A REPLY TO LORD ROSEBERY.

STATEMENT BY SIR EDWARD

GREY.

By Telegraph.— Press Association.—Copyright.

(Received March 17, 9.43 p.m.)

London, March 17. Mr. Redmond, speaking at the Irish National banquet in London last night, said the political prospects of Ireland were never better than now, despite Lord Rosebery's fruitless denunciation of Home Rule. The Irish would support no Liberal party that took Lord Rosebery's view. Even if the Liberals were returned, nominally independent of the Nationalists, the Government would find it a sheer impossibility to govern Ireland, for the Irish party would make it impossible. London, March 16.

Sir Edward Grey, speaking at Northallerton, in Yorkshire, said it would be inexpedient for the Liberals to take office unless they obtained a majority apart from the vote of the Irish Nationalists.
