ABOLITION OF WARDS.
TO THE EDITOR. ' Sir, —As the city ©lectors are almost unanimous that the time has come to wipe out the ward system, it is essential that candidates should at once state their views on this subject. so that we may know whom to vote for. Particularly is this so with regard to i the Mayoralty. Two candidates for the civic chair are members of the Council. Unfortunately, however, one candidate (Mr. How* son) was away through illness when Mr. Parr's motion was discussed. It would be well, therefore, if he were to inform us through the press what his views are regarding ward abolition. Mr. Stichbury, the other candidate, at last Council meeting preferred to express no opinion on the subject. This will not satisfy the electors. Mr. Stichbury must have an opinion either for or against. Two years ago, when it was brought up, he. voted in favour of wards, and against their abolition.;: Is he still of that opinion? The electors are ; entitled to know before pledging themselves,* I am, etc.,_ Oxe Ward fob the Cut. Auckland, April 2.
