THE ANGLICAN CHURCH. -

TO THE EDITOR. " i-r-v ;'; Sir, —The letter of "An English Catholio" in the Herald Supplement of the 21st. inst is certainly a startling; one. Dees the writer speak with the authority of the Anglican Church at his back, or is it a case of thl Tooley-street tailors? Are wo to suppose that our dissenting kindred Churches are heretical, and that when wo pray for the Holy Catholic Church on Sundays that we refer only to the Anglican, Roman, and Greek Churches? _ What about the 39 articles, which, I believe, all Anglican clergy are called upon to subscribe before taking orders? Do they : not distinctly warn us against the errors of the Church of Rome, but in no way refer to any doctrinal difference* we may have with our Protestant dissenting brethren— is, if we have any? lam aware that a small section of the Anglican Church have ele'vated ritual almost «into an article of faith ; essential to salvation, and carry priestcraft to the extent of saying that the Bible is not for individual interpretation, but must only be read as the Church interprets it. ..- , \vI rather fancy that if the impression becomes general that the Anglican Church, as a Church, holds suoh views, there will be. either a small exodus from its ranks to the Church of Rome or a large one to the Protestant dissenters.—l am. etc.. ' V A Protestant Anglican.
