THE WAIHI BOROUGH
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] • _ Waihi, Wednesday. A meeting of the Waihi Borough Association was held this afternoon in Mr. Haslett's chambers. • Present: Messrs. H. M. Haslett (chairman), P. McGregor, R. Gooch, W. 11. Phillips, J. Livesy, D. Robertson, M. D. King, A. H. Clark, A. Kat?, J. Roberts, R. Simms, D. Donaldson, and A. Y. Ross (secretary). The Chairman said the Borough Association had every reason to congratulate itself on the present satisfactory position of the Waihi Borough. He moved the following resolution: —"The Waihi Borough Association has received with great pleasure the news of the proclamation of the Borough of Waihi, and tenders its thanks to the Hon. James McGowan and Mr. Jackson Palmer, M.H.R., in appreciation of their kind assistance .in furthering the efforts of the association." This was carried unanimously. It was also resolved that the following telegram be sent to the Premier: —" That the Waihi Borough Association conveys its thanks to the Government for granting the prayer of the Waihi Borough petitioners, and in order to facilitate the despatch of business the association respectfully requests all official communications to be addressed to the president or secretary of the Borough Association." It was resolved to defer any public demonstration until the election of the Mayor. On the motion oi Mr. W. 11. Phillips, the meeting was adjourned sine die. Congratulatory telegrams from all parts, including Paeroa, have been received during the day, among the first to hand being from the Rev. Father Brodie, who is at present in Auckland. ; ,
