CHARGE AGAINST A HOTELKEEPER.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Dixnedin, Wednesday. A case came before the Police Court today, in which the licensee of the Imperial Hotel was charged with permitting drunkenness in the hotel. Several passers-by saw the licensee half drag a drunken man from the front door facing Princes-street round into Hope-street, and one gave information to the police. The informant cannot be found, and he evidently gave a wrong name and address. Two witnesses, one being a Christchurch lady, gave evidence that a man came down the street and stumbled at the private entrance door. He had not been inside. When the licensee arrived he removed the man from the door, which he was obstructing, and then went for the police, meeting a constable close by. The Bench stopped further evidence, and dismissed the case.
