At the Hastings Magistrate's Court to-day-Archibald Fairburn pleaded guilty, and was committed for trial, for the theft of a horse, saddle, and bridle, from B. C. McCormick. The evidence showed that accused had hired the turnout, on January 8, but had not returned them, having disposed of the horse to a Gisborne man, and the saddle and bridle in Hastings. Christchtoch, Wednesday. At the conference to fix. the weekly halfholiday, held last night, Thursday was again chosen. An amendment in favour of Saturday only received the support of the proposer and seconder. . Gheyhouth, Wednesday. The Tyneside Colliery Company was successfully floated yesterday in Greymouth. Work will be started next week, getting the mine in order. It has been worked before. The company expect to be putting out coal in three months.
