DEATH AT SEA.
[by TELEGRAPH.PRESS association.] Gisborne, Wednesday. Mr. Thomas Eyre, a retired mine manager, booked for the round trip from Sydney, died aboard the steamer Zealandia at half-past two this morning, on the passage from Auckland to Gisborne.
At the inquest on the Zealandia the evidence showed that Eyre enjoyed fine health, but on reaching Auckland became bad from constipation. He refused to allow his friends to sand for a doctor, saying he would soon be well. He went from his berth to the social hall, where he passed away as in sleep. A verdict was returned of death from natural causes, and that everything possible was done by the officers and others for his comfort. The Rev. Mr. Buttain, M.A., was foreman of the jury. . , -
