THOROUGHBRED SALES.

DISPERSAL OF THE " WAPITI" STUD. On Saturday forenoon, at " Wapiti," Major F. Nelson George's Epsom estate, the whole of that gentleman's thoroughbred horses, including yearlings, horses in training, and brood marcs, wero disposed of by public auction. The sale was conducted by Mr. J. Seagar Buckland, on behalf of Messrs. A. Buckland and Sons, and there , was present a very good attendance. The 12 lots submitted were sold without reserve, and realised a total of 1840 guineas, the prices and-purchasers being as under: — YEARLINGS.

Adelaide, January 4. As a basis for the settlement of the racing dispute the Jockey Club has conceded two aditional days in the year within .the metropolitan area. The New Year's Day meeting will in future be abandoned. The s.s. Waihora, which left for East Coast ports and the South on Saturday last, was the bearer of a valuable collection of bloodstock. The steamer had on board Mr. G. G. Stead's horses,' St. Michael, Menschikoff, Royal Artillery, and Cruciform, Sir George Clifford's Glenogle and Goldenmerc, Messrs. Pollard and Sullivan's Djin Djin, and Mr. Harding's Materoa and Tanhei. In addition to the horses named there were shipped the yearlings purchased by Mr. Stead at the Auckland sales, the stallion Nelson, who was recently presented by Major George to his old trainer. E. Cufcts, was also shipped to his new home in the South by the Waihora. The Auckland Racing Club publish a notification in another column bearing on the Great Northern Foal Stakes, and Royal Stakes, nominations for which close on Friday next at nine p.m.
